If you are reading the Austin Pedal Cars website, it is highly likely you will have seen, or even had a family member take part in, the annual Austin J40 pedal car race at the Goodwood Revival event.
Upwards of 70 pedal cars take to the grid, with young drivers taking a Le Mans style start (running to their cars from the opposite side of the track) before pedalling down the straight of the Goodwood Motor Circuit. And what a spectacle it is, with a mass of J40s jostling for position through a chicane before a full-speed pedal to the finish.
And it is a race of two parts, with a heat on both the Saturday and Sunday of the event - no racing on Friday as the school headmasters do not approve of that! The overall winner is chosen by their results across both races, with a special trophy awarded to the winning driver.
With thousands of spectators alongside the track, and millions watching on TV and YouTube, it is an event loved around the world and one that has seen many young drivers taking a keen interest in motorsport, and classic cars, as a result.
Undoubtedly, as we all have, you will have wanted to see a young driver you know enter the race, and now might be your chance. Austin Pedal Cars has teamed up with the Goodwood Revival to offer one lucky family the chance to win a place on the grid in the 2025 Settrington Cup J40 pedal car race.
Austin Pedal Cars has one grid spot to give away (racing on both the Saturday and Sunday), a prize which includes entry tickets for a family of four, for the entire three-day event, making it a weekend to remember and a genuine money can’t buy prize.
And you don’t even need to own an Austin J40 to enter, as we will also provide the winner with a very special Austin J40 pedal car to compete in. To add to the excitement, our winner will pedal a J40 that had a starring role in the very first Austin J40 pedal car race which took place at Silverstone in 1955. This wonderfully original racer is still owned by the boy who won the race, Ted French (now a grown man!), and now it will return to the track once again, 70 years later.
Of course, we will also throw in some driving lessons, too, just to get the driver fully prepared. The Austin Pedal Cars factory drivers are standing by to pass on their racing knowledge and top tips.
To enter, all you need to do is sign up for our fun Team Austin newsletter and we will pick one lucky winner to join us. Not only will you be entered into the competition, you will also receive our wonderful Team Austin news, containing fun and facts for all the family.
