"Follow our progress as we restore an ex-fairground Austin J40 classic pedal car for Bangers and Cash: Restoring Classics, ahead of it being auctioned later this year."
Austin Pedal Cars has taken delivery of a solid, but desperately in need of attention, Austin J40 pedal car from the Bangers and Cash: Restoring Classics TV show, and while this ex-fairground car might look a little tired, our experts deemed it to be in good shape, and retaining some originality, after an initial inspection at our Salisbury workshop.
The aim of Bangers and Cash: Restoring Classics is to buy a classic car from Matthewsons Auctions and take it to a trusted restoration specialist for an overhaul. Once the work has been completed the car is auctioned and the full costs, and any profit, is reported. This time the Matthewsons team has bought an Austin J40, always a good seller at their auctions, and has entrusted Austin Pedal Cars with the job of returning it to its former glory.
Austin Pedal Cars restoration experts Matt and Ross evaluated the car, with every detail of the inspection being filmed ready to be shown on the show when it airs later this year. On camera, Matt and Ross talked through the work required, and explained how Austin Pedal Cars make all J40 parts in-house helping to ensure a high-quality restoration is completed in a good time frame. The Bangers and Cash team elected for our full restoration service, which includes full body repair and repaint, new parts, replacement trim and full mechanical overhaul.
We will share more details with you as the restoration progresses, but everyone at Austin Pedal Cars is proud to have been chosen as the specialist restorer to bring this wonderful old J40 back to life, ready to be enjoyed again for generations to come.
Austin Pedal Cars offers a full range of spares for the Austin J40, designed to original specifications, using modern materials, for a perfect fit and the highest quality. We also offer a range of restoration options to perfectly suit your needs.
